gigantic — their irises are one yard high.
-They look out of no face,
but, instead, from a pair of enormous yellow spectacles
which pass over a nonexistent nose.
Evidently some wild wag of an oculist set them there
to fatten his practice in the borough of Queens,
and then sank down himself into eternal blindness,
or forgot them and moved away.
But his eyes, dimmed a little by many paintless days,
under sun and rain,
brood on over the solemn dumping ground.
(fitzgerald 27-28)
do you think the color blue represents something?
ReplyDelete@Derik T., I think the blue in his eyes show that he was once a man of hope and dreams. Now that time has taken a toll on his life the colors show through the hardship of his life.
DeleteThe way you composed this paragraph really did make me imagine those run down eyes. What made you choose this verse? Does it have any emotional meaning to you?
ReplyDelete@Adriana O., I chose this verse cause it made me imagine his blue eyes in a place with no color. Where he went to build his life and ended up staying there working his life.
DeleteGreat choice of paragraph. It gives a clear image of doctor T. J.
ReplyDelete@Cassandra, thanks dude. I got pulled in by the description of his eyes in a "blah" place.
